    Board Option - AAI/38

    Awards in this Activity

Invented by the Polynesians centuries ago this fast-growing sport is now enjoyed anywhere in the world where there are waves.  The length and the design of the surfboard may vary but the idea is the same – the search for the perfect ride on the perfect wave.  This is what has created a life-style surf culture wherever waves and people meet.

    Body Board Option - AAI/40

    Awards in this Activity

A simple, very accessible, basic form of surfing – using a polystyrene board, just smaller than the person’s body, the bodysurfer can catch waves and spin, roll and run in no time at all.  Often used as stepping stone to board surfing.

    Kayak Ski Option - AAI/41

    Awards in this Activity

Is it a boat or is it a board?  In fact it is a cross between the two – a minimal kayak resembling a short board, on which the paddler sits as if in a kayak, or sits on as if on a ski, and maneuvres this agile of craft around the surf.  Board surfers acknowledge that these are the surfers who ride the most waves.
